New Year's Resolutions....

Now that we have finished thinking about christmas, probably it's about time to think about new year's resolution naman or shall i say new year's resolution(s) dahil madami di ba.... This is the right time to look back and think about all those bad habbits and spoils that we have given to ourselves for the whole 2010....

In moderations naman all these spoils are still cosidered healthy according to my opinion lang yan ha....

Most of those that we are suppose to quit " REALLY BADLY " like smoking and drinking or worse drug addiction have a long term effects in our system, and our family, and other people around us kaya mas maaga mas makakabuti.... Kaya kung isang pares lang na medyas paulit-ulit mo sinusuot for the whole week for the intire year, this is the right time to cosider buying another pair.... MADYIK....! Happy New Year everyone....! =D

Wanted....

An unidentified man was breaking into peoples houses last night. The man was described by children that was woken up by his loud jolly laughter as, wearing a big red suit trimmed with white wool around his neck and down to his belly, then around his waist.

On the top of his suit, there's a belt in the loop holes. His belt is black and the buckle is gold. His pants are also red, with white wool around the ankles. He wears black boots, gloves, and a red cap that is a floppy cone, topped off with a white wool pompom. His hair is all grey also his long beard and mustache....

A homeless man added that the said man appears to be angry when he've mistaken him for the Grinch, a fictional character that looks like an untrimmed christmas tree on stilt.... Authorities have adviced everyone to stay calm and not to worry because the unidentified man was said to be harmless but eats a lot of cookies and drinks a lot of hot chocolates....

Authorities further adviced everyone that if you happen to have a close brush with this man, don't panic, just pretend that you're a reindeer and you will get a pat on the head and a handful of yummy sugar cubes in your mouth.... =)

Seafood marathon downunder....

I was planning to buy some prawns for the noche buena tonight but the queue was so horribly long.... So i've ended up making teriyaki chicken instead....

Shopping centres are in the middle of a marathon trading session, with stores staying open overnight and until 5.30pm today.

Shoppers at the fish markets will buy a staggering 83kg/min of prawns, 93kg/min of fish and almost 1000 oysters/min during today's traditional rush.

And as for my teriyaki chicken naman, it's absolutely delicious.... Better than any fish or prawns.... I think i've made the right decision going to the butcher rather than the seafood market today.... I'll just have that elusive prawns for the new year's eve.... Merry Christmas all....=D

Merry Christmas all....

Merry Christmas all.... Pasensya na po sa katahimikan dito.... I was just going through some very tough times lately and until this moment, i'm still in the hot pursuit of my elusive usual energetic self that i really wanted back very badly.... Hopefully i'll be able to catch-up with it before things turns up more and more uglier next time....

You know who yous are and i also wanted yous all to know that i really, really do APPRECIATE all your efforts, and all the messages and everything that yous all did ng walang kasawasawa.... Grabe kayo, wala talaga akong masabi....! I wish that someday i can also give back the same favors to yous guys.... =)

Though christmas songs and colours makes me lonely at this stage, i hope everyone's still happy and having a great time this christmas and take good care of yourselves.... God bless.... =)

Houston, the Pope have landed....!

Got this Sharing the love badge from Redlan last week, salamat dito Red.... And since i don't have much time to hop-around to give and inform friends about this, i would like to share this to everyone instead who are visiting and willing to share this badge to some of their blog-friends as well.... . . .

By the way, to those who doesn't know yet, here's the latest talk of the town ngayon dito, the Pope Benedict XVI have already arrived here in downunder today few hours ago sakay ng Boeing 777 na papal-plane for the Catholic World Youth Day Celebrations that i think will open on tuesday.... Madami nang mga pilgrims ang dumating last week pa from different corners of the globe.... Teka, may corners ba ang mundo, bilog to di ba....?

Medyo matagaltagal kasi tong World Youth Day kaya siguro hindi nila ginawang public holiday....

Muling nagparamdam....

It's a good thing na easter ngayon, long weekend kaya big chance for me to sort things out at makapag-relax ang isipan....

Big events also happened this week.... I really thought that i'm going to lose my job....! Nakabangga ko kasi ang mga so called "protected people" in our company.... I wasn't scared of them, all i wanted was to stand on my point and be heard, and i did....! They really have to think about it before sacking me there because, hindi sa pagmamayabang to ha, i'm a very effecient and dedicated employee na kahit tatlo pa ang ipalit nila sa akin at gagastos sila ng husto sa mga yun ay hindi pa rin kayang ipagpalit sa qualities ko....

I work like a one man team all the time, wala na halos toilet at inum ng tubig, but at the end of the day ay tapos ang trabaho na dapat sana ay pang two to three days na job, and i don't even complain about hard or easy job that i've received.... Or i might suffer a stiff-neck the whole week sa sobrang kasusubsob sa trabaho, but that won't be enough to stop me from completing a job on time which is in my case the efforts almost did not pay.... !

I just felt bad because all this time i was really so friendly to everyone sa work at tahimik lang talaga akong tao at walang gulo.... They can say what they want to say about me as long as they don't hit me physically ay walang problema yan, they have the right to say anything and suffer the consequenses also from the almighty up above kung hindi tutuo ang pinagsasabi nila so it doesn't really bother me at all....

I was scheduled to see the big boss kasi last thursday kaya patay kang bata ka tanggal ka na ngayon....!

Don't get me wrong, my work place is the best ever in australia.... It's only the people working there that creates all this trouble, ika nga kahit sa paraiso ay may ahas rin.... Madaming hepe kasi....!

All in all, makulay, kumpletos recados to'ng mga nakaraang weeks kahil halos magkanda-heart attack na ako sa sobrang stress....

I just hope that everyone is doing well sa kanikanilang mga life and blogs.... Happy easter to all....! =D

Happy Valentines Day....

It's valentines day around the world, hindi ko alam basta naisipan ko lang na subukang i-trace ang mga iba't-ibang kaugalian at traditions sa iba't-ibang panig mundo, so i came up with these few.... Since i'm here now in downunder, i will start this with the old australian ways and custom.... This is going to be a long one, sorry guys....! =D

AUSTRALIA - During the Australian gold rush period, miners who were suddenly in possession of money from the new-found wealth of the Ballarat Mines were willing to pay a princely sum for elaborate valentines and merchants in the country would ship orders amounting to thousands of pounds at a time.... The most extravagent Australian valentines were made of a satin cushion, perfumed and decorated in an ornate manner with flowers and colored shells.... Some might even be adorned with a taxidermied humming bird or bird of paradise. This treasure, contained within a neatly decorated box, was highly valued, being both fashionable and extremely expensive....

AUSTRIA - Austria has some rather obscure courtship customs that may or may not be associated with Saint Valentine's Day.... Nonetheless, it is customary for a young man to present his beloved with a bunch of flowers on February 14....

AMERICA - In the United States of America, there have been many varieties of cards given over the course of the years, some of which have often been rude or even quite cruel in their humor.... In the times of the Civil War, cards were flagged with rich colors accompanied by patriotic and/or political motifs. Early American valentine cards were especially lithographed and hand-colored, beautiful and distinctive in design, produced with intricate lace paper and decorated with such ornaments as beads, sea shells, cones, berries and all manner of seeds.... Cards were also available decorated with seaweed or moss, in addition to dried and/or artificial flowers, all of which were attached to a string which was pulled and could then be suspended, thereby creating a three-dimensional picture.... Many early American cards were imported from abroad, given the poor quality of American paper at the time which was not particularly suitable for embossing. Today, American children usually exchange valentines with their friends and there may even be a classroom party....

BRITAIN - The poets of Britain have probably penned the majority of the best-loved romantic verses associated with Saint Valentine.... Different regions of the nation celebrate their own customs to honor this day, although the sending of cards and gifts of flowers and chocolates is standard procedure throughout the entire country.... One uniform custom is the singing of special songs by children, who then receive gifts of candy, fruit or money.... In some areas, valentine buns are baked with caraway seeds, plums or raisins....

DENMARK - The Danish valentine card is known as a "lover's card." Older versions of this greeting came in the form of a transparency which, when held up to the light, depicted the image of a lover handing his beloved a gift.... One custom in Denmark is for people to send pressed white flowers called Snowdrops to their friends. Danish men may also send a form of valentine known as a gaekkebrev (or "joking letter"). The sender of this gaekkebrev pens a rhyme but does not sign his name.... Instead, he signs the message with dots...one dot for each letter in his name.... If the lady who receives the card guesses the name of the sender, then she is rewarded with an Easter Egg later in the year....

FRANCE - In France, a custom known as "drawing for" once occurred.... Unmarried individuals, both young and not so young, would go into houses facing each other and begin calling out across from one window to another, pairing-off with the chosen partner.... If the young man failed to be particularly enthralled with his valentine, he would desert her.... As a result, a bonfire would be lit later where the ladies could burn images of the ungrateful sweetheart and verbally abuse him in a loud tone as the effigy burned.... This ritual was eventually abandoned since it left much room for nastiness, ridicule or even outright malice and the French government finally handed-down a decree officially banning the custom.... Elegant French greetings cards known as cartes d'amities, which contained tender messages, were given not totally as a Valentine but chiefly as a result of a fashion which was popular in England at the time....

GERMANY - In Germany, it has become customary for the young man of a courting couple to present his beloved with flowers on February 14.... Valentine gifts in Germany are usually in the shape of love tokens, complete with endearing messages.... However, these are not distributed solely on Valentine's Day, but on any occasion.... Even early German baptismal certificates or marriage certificates were considered at one time to have been valentines, but were more likely simply decorative and pictorial documents which contained lovely verses....

ITALY - In Italy, Valentine's Day was once celebrated as a Spring Festival, held in the open air, where young people would gather in tree arbors or ornamental gardens to listen to music and the reading of poetry.... However, over the course of the years, this custom steadily ceased and has not now been celebrated for centuries.... In Turin, it was formerly the custom for betrothed couples to announce their engagements on February 14.... For several days ahead of time, the stores would be decorated and filled with all manner of bon-bons....

JAPAN - In Japan, Valentine's Day is celebrated on two different dates.... February 14 and March 14. On the first date, the female gives a gift to the male and on the second date.... known as White Day and supposedly introduced by a marshmallow company in the 1960s...the male has to return the gift he received on February 14.... Thus, strictly speaking, a Japanese female has the luxury of actually choosing her own gift. Chocolate is the most popular gift in Japan.... However, since most Japanese females believe that store-bought chocolate is not a gift of true love, they tend to make the confection with their own hands....

KOREA - The traditional gift of candy takes place in Korea on February 14, but only from females to males.... There is another special day for males to give gifts to females and this is celebrated on March 14. Very similar to the custom in Japan, March 14 in Korea is known as "White Day." On "White Day," many young men confess their love for the first time to their sweethearts. For those young people who have no particular romantic partners, the Koreans have set aside yet another date.... April 14, also known as "Black Day." On that date, such individuals get together and partake of Jajang noodles, which are black in color, hence the name of the day....

SCOTLAND - In Scotland, Valentine's Day is celebrated with a festival. At this festival, there is an equal number of unmarried males and females, each of whom write their name (or a made-up name) on a piece of paper which is then folded and placed into a hat, one hat for the ladies and one for the men.... The females then draw a name from the hat containing the men's names and vice versa.... Of course, it is highly likely that the two drawn names will not match, in which event, it is usually expected that the male partner with the female who selected his name.... This rite having been completed, the company split up into couples and gifts are given to the ladies.... The females would then pin the name of their partner over their hearts or on their sleeves.... A dance often follows and, at the end of the festival, it is not unusual for marriages to take place.... According to another Scottish custom, the first young man or woman encountered by chance on the street or elsewhere will become that individual's valentine.... Valentine's Day gifts in Scotland are frequently given by both parties in the form of a love-token or true-love-knot....

SPAIN - In Spain, it is customary for courting couples to exchange gifts on Valentine's Day and for husbands to send their wives bouquets of roses....

TAIWAN - Valentine's Day is celebrated in Taiwan on February 14, but there is also a special Valentine's Day on July 7 of the lunar calendar, based on an ancient Chinese folktale.... Both dates are equally as important.... Many men purchase expensive bouquets of roses and other flowers for their sweethearts on these days.... According to Taiwan tradition, the color and number of the roses holds much significance.... For example, one red rose means "an only love," eleven roses means "a favorite," ninety-nine roses means "forever," and one hundred eight roses means "marry me."

PHILIPPINES - And of course in The Philippines, valentines day (araw ng mga puso) is one of the most anticipated day of the year.... Couples may start by planning their own special ways of celebrating it days before february 14.... Like the western ways , we also give valentines cards and red roses, maybe go see a movie together, or simply watch the beautiful sunset by the bay.... In the old days, whenever there's a maiden in town, everyday is a valentines day.... Men comes at night with their guitars and a bucket-full of songs, dressed up in probably the best ever clothes and pair of pants and shoes that they could find in their father's closet to serenade (harana) a pretty maiden by her bedroom's window.... If he will be successful, then comes the asking for the girl's hand or asking the parent's permission (pamanhikan) and blessings to marry the girl.... If the parents specially the father will aggree, then the groom to be still have to undergo a month or two of hardships, serving the girls family by gathering and chopping firewoods, fetching water from the well few hundred meters away, farming, feeding the animals in the farm, and so on and so forth like some sort of an initiations for a frat membership ha-ha, isn't that exciting....! To the men, this is the best time to get to know the family and specially the girl better before the wedding proper.... And you know what comes next....! Anyways, these are just a few to give you a little insight on how they do things during valentines day in the other part of the world.... By the way, the picture inset is my latest drawing posted in my Astig Museum early today.... I call this piece Harana.... Ingatz and enjoy your valentines day....! =D

Sydney fireworks display....

I want to share to you this short video of the new years eve celebration that took place last night here in sydney.... Taken from an amateur video in u-tube, thanks u-tube....! You will see here the streets of Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, and Opera House filled with people waiting.... A record crowd of almost 1.5 million people out partying in the streets.... I think they've already closed the streets from traffic here in preparations for the fireworks display at midnight.... Thought as usual, i was not able to go there and watch, but i was closely monitoring the event on tv....

And judging from what i've seen on tv last night, i think the fireworks display was the most spectacular that we've ever seen first thing this morning....! But i don't know, i'm just kind of feeling like as much as possible i want to avoid a large gathering nowaday dahil na rin siguro dun sa mga nakikita ko sa news about terrorism....

Then AB and i spent the night chatting with each other.... I also made a phone call to my parent's place back in pinas, but trying to take the topics away from money matter kasi pag may humingi ng pang new year ay patay kang bata ka....! Then around 3:00 AM aust. time na 12:00 midnight sakto in pinay, i had a very long chismisan with my nanay about dun sa mga bagaybagay na may sanlibong beses ko na yatang narinig mula sa kanya he-he....!

Nagsi-uwian kasi mga kapatid ko, one from singapore with his wife and 2 years old son, and my brother who is currently working in laguna na may plano na yatang mag asawa dahil bumili na ng bahay dun....

Fast forward>>> Gumising na after a short 4 hours snooze at kasalukuyang nasa harap ng pyutirs at nagkakape ngayon habang ginagawa tong post na to.... Wow, this is my first ever cup of coffee pala in 2008....! Astig....! Anyways, i have to let you go now ligo muna ako.... And don't forget to enjoys your first of everything in 2008 today....! Happy new beginning everyone....! =D

Sacked Santa Clause....

A 70-year-old man working as Santa Claus says he was SACKED from a Cairns department store for saying "ho, ho, ho" and singing Christmas carols.... In a case of political correctness seemingly gone mad, retired entertainer John Oakes says he was fired from his job at Myer for his rendition of Santa’s famous laugh.

His employer, Westaff, last month sparked national outrage when it ordered its Santas to say "ha, ha, ha" instead of "ho, ho, ho" because it could be derogatory to women but denied the words were a factor in Mr Oakes’s case.... The word "ho" is also American slang for a whore.... A sign of a christmas and santa hater di ba....? How could you think of such stupid ideas na bastos ang word na ho-ho-ho....?! Everyone expect Santa Clause to go ho-ho....! If Santa will go ha-ha, that sounds like Jim Carrey....! And if Santa will say hey-hey-hey, that's more like Krusty the Clown in the famous Simpsons cartoon....!

"They’re trying to kill the spirit of Christmas," Mr Oakes told The Cairns Post yesterday, just days into his fourth year as Myer’s Santa.... "But after my shift on Monday, I got a call from my manager telling me my services were no longer required.... "I hadn’t done anything wrong so I asked her why, and she said, ‘You said ho, ho, ho and that’s not appropriate’.... Since when it's not appropriate for Santa to say ho-ho....? I think they were just plainly being ridiculous, sa palagay nyo....! Isn't Santa suppose to be a happy jolly person....? I think the world is really going in a totally strange direction nowadays, ano sa palagay nyo....? =)

Happy Halloween....!

Happy Halloween All....! I hope everyone's having a good time.... I know there's a halloween break dyan sa pinas.... Actually, we should celebrate this day the happy way 'coz this is the once in a year chance to really round-up all your family members and visit again the love ones that are no longer living amongst us....

So whatever it is you'are being busy about tonight, always remember to party hard but don't drink too much and drive safely okay....? And mga apo, don't make gulat muna your lolos tonight ha at baka madagdagan ang mga not living amongst us nyo....! Joks lang he-he....! I'm going to watch "The Ring" (japanese version) again.... Happy Halloween all....! =D

DEJA VU....

So much for the magpie issue na....! The magpie saga ends here now....! I'm already avoiding the other side of the road though she's still keeping a vicious look in my direction at times, but not attempting to proceed anymore which is good....!

I wanna touch a topic about books and comic-books triggered by Tina's entry in her blog.... I call it " Deja vu " because when i was reading that entry, i had this funny flash back memory of how i was before as a kid....!

When i was about 8 or 9 years old, i always jump accross bamboo fence at my grandmother's place just to avoid being caught wandering outside.... My plan was to cross to that house just next door once belongs to my mother's uncle....

He owned a little comics-store in one part of his living room that was turned into benches and shelves that time....! It was great having a comics-store owner for a relative then ha-ha....!

I've enjoyed going there alot to read, specially it was for free ha-ha....! I've never missed any issues of Marvel super heroes, Spiderman, Batman and Robin, Green lantern....etc. Also Books like, Casper, Richie Rich, Archie, and even the book version of Looney Tunes, Charlie Brown at madami pang iba na hindi ko na halos maalala ang mga titles....!

Those are all original volumes ng mga comics and books na talagang worth collecting....! I then found-out that at the end of the year, every christmas ay basta na lang nya pinaglalagay sa shredder ang mga ito para gawing parang yung mga grass sa " Belen " every christmas season....! Sayang ano....?!

In short, ay hiningi ko na nga ang mga old comics and books na umabot sa isang carton box talaga ang dami at kandahirap kami halos na buhatin yun ng mga kapatid ko ha-ha....!

It was a fiesta of comics that day....! We even agreed to devide those amongst ourselves at kanya-kanya nang basa at hiraman....!

No one of us brothers really thought of keeping and collecting those items before that will be of great value pala nowadays if we only did manage to take care of all those....!

Imagine having in your collection the complete editions of Marvel super hero and other comics or comic-books....! Astig di ba....? Anyways, don't cry over spilled milk na lang daw....! It's never too late naman to start collecting all-over again, yun nga lang ay maghihintay na naman ako ng 20 - 50 years or so before na maging rare-collections na naman ang mga ito ha-ha....!

I'd say, the passion of collecting itself lang is an amazing experience na.... Whatever it may be na gusto mong i-collect ay hindi mahalaga, importante ay happy ka sa collecting hobby mo di ba....?

By the way, i'm starting to collect coins nowadays ha-ha....! It's alot more fun because some new and old issues are really hard to get by which made it more exciting once you find another one....! Exit na ulit ako....! Until next entry all....!

A minute for you know who....!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE....!
For me this one's a must post entry.... I know that everyone is busy right now with their family, religious, spiritual, Panatas, or school holiday's activities.... Like everyone else, i have my own choices of spending my easter break too.... But whoever you are, whatever you are, whichever religions and divisions of christianity you're in, or whatever religious / non-religious beliefs you have, let us all at this very moment, as a world for just a brief while become one and stop whatever it is that we're doing and offer "you know who" a moment of silent prayers and remember how blessed and greatful we are for what he have done for us and for the whole world.... By doing so, you'll do yourself a great favor by turning this year's easter break into a more special and worthwhile remembering one.... Happy easter all....! Have fun....! Can't hardy wait to hear from all of yous and what yous did during your easter break....!
